We Are the Champions

The Outrigger on the Lagoon – Fiji was one of 40 teams participating in this year’s Fiji Hotel Workers
Volleyball Tournament. As one of the tournament officials, I was thrilled to be a part of this exciting event. This year, the tournament was held at Nassau Park in Levuka. Fiji Hotel Workers Volleyball Association President Jack Stark said, “We decided to take the tournament to Levuka to help tourism in the old capital, as most hotel workers have not been to this paradise. The association would also like to contribute to the skills and knowledge of volleyball, especially in schools and with youth in the villages.” Read the rest of this entry

Neil Murakami Promoted to General Manager-Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk®!

Neil’s hospitality career started in 1992 at the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber hotel, where he earned much of his experience and climbed the ladder to become the Front Office Manager in 2005.

The 24th Annual Law Enforcement & Security Appreciation Luncheon

The 24th Annual Law Enforcement & Security Appreciation Luncheon was held on October 30, with 400 Law Enforcement and Security Officers and supporters in attendance. Hawaii’s United States Attorney Edward H. Kubo Jr. gave the keynote speech. The theme for the luncheon was the ongoing and continually increasing collaboration between Law Enforcement Agencies and Private Security. Thirty officers from Federal, Military, County, and Private Industry received awards for being their respective agency’s “Top Cop.”
Barbara Campbell Receives SCOTY Award

Please join me in congratulating Barbara Campbell, who was presented with the 2008 SCOTY (Shopping Center of the Year) Award at the Retail Merchants of Hawaii conference and awards luncheon held October 30. Barbara was recognized for her leadership and ongoing contributions to Hawaii’s shopping center industry. This award will join the Governor’s Ho‘okela Award for Exemplary Service that Barbara won last year at the annual Retail Merchants of Hawaii luncheon.
School Choice Helped Launch Barack Obama’s Success

Halloween Breakfast Bash at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation Resort

Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation Resort (KPR) employees’ gathered for the First Annual Halloween Breakfast Bash. It was a potluck event and hosted by their very own Housekeeping Department. Executive Housekeeper Donna King supplied the delicious pancakes, and everyone brought lots of trick-or-treats. It was a great way to celebrate Halloween.
