Inafa’maolek (Hospitality): In welcoming and entertaining guests and strangers, we as
Hosts, commit ourselves to excellence in making it good for everyone.
In support of our mission of “working together as a family in harmony with the culture and environment of the places where we do business,” the Taotao Guma’ (People of the House) at the Outrigger Guam Resort and OHANA Oceanview and Bayview hotels proudly kicked-off celebrations for ten years of Inafa’maolek service to Guam, it’s people, culture, and visitors.
The very essence of our Outrigger Hospitality pays tribute to the rich culture of Guam. Taotao Guma’ perpetuate this, while caring for each other and our guests. On June 1, we proudly shared our true colors of Inafa’maolek, as we hosted members of our community to a cocktail reception. With the help and support of the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA), we paid tribute to the beauty and brilliance of the Chamorro culture and heritage with a week-long exhibit of the arts by local artisans. The exhibit, “Hami Guahan, I Kulot Inafa’maolek,” translates to “We are Guam, the Colors of Inafa’maolek.”
Hosts’ pride and care were evident in the smiles and “feel-good” atmosphere in the hotel’s lobby. From the greetings at the door by managers and supervisors, to the warm reception at registration, to the efficient service of food and drink, and the hearty interaction, the Outrigger familia expressed their thanks to Guam for allowing them to be “keepers of the Inafa’maolek Spirit.”
The culmination of this significant milestone was held on Friday, June 26, with an evening filled with nostalgia and celebration at the Outrigger Guam Resort. The festivities began with a traditional Chamorro blessing by Ron Laguana, a Chamorro spiritual leader, followed by welcoming remarks by Charlene Goo, VP-Operations, Pacific Region, and Barry Wallace, Executive Vice President. The evening’s focus was recognition of those employees who had reached their five and ten-year milestones with the company. Employees and their guests were treated to a variety of entertainment that included music from the popular local band, D.U.B. (Da Udda Band) and special video presentations from our Hawaii and Guam familia.
Congratulations to all; we look forward to many more years of welcoming and entertaining guests and strangers, as hosts, and committing ourselves to excellence in all we do.
