Please join me in congratulating Barbara Campbell, who was presented with the 2008 SCOTY (Shopping Center of the Year) Award at the Retail Merchants of Hawaii conference and awards luncheon held October 30. Barbara was recognized for her leadership and ongoing contributions to Hawaii’s shopping center industry. This award will join the Governor’s Ho‘okela Award for Exemplary Service that Barbara won last year at the annual Retail Merchants of Hawaii luncheon.
Barbara is an exemplary representative for Outrigger, doing much to enhance and further the retail industry in Hawaii. In addition to her role as Vice President of Retail Development and Leasing for Outrigger, Barbara finds the time to share her expertise within our community. Barbara is past president of the Building Owners and Managers Association and the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). She has served as the State Director of the International Council of Shopping Centers, for which she also serves as a member.
Additionally, Barbara serves on numerous boards or is a member of a number of civic and community organizations, including the Friends of the Waikiki Aquarium, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Foundation, the advisory committee of the City’s Partnership for the Environment, the Rotary Club of Honolulu Foundation, the Retail Merchants of Hawaii, Les Dames D’Escoffier, Urban Land Institute, Family Programs Hawaii, and the Rotary Club of Honolulu.
Barbara does all of this in addition to overseeing all aspects of retail development and leasing for Outrigger’s commercial and hotel properties, including Waikiki’s newest shopping, dining, and entertainment offering, Waikiki Beach Walk®.
We’re fortunate to have Barbara as a member of the Outrigger ‘ohana. She exemplifies Outrigger’s mission and values and our commitment to being the employer of choice, as well as a valued community partner.
