Beyond the Call of Duty

By Angelica Loughlin — Please join the Outrigger Guam familia (family) in congratulating Nelida Dimatatac and Paulina Perkin for receiving the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association’s (GHRA) “Beyond the Call of Duty Integrity Award.” On a quarterly basis, the “Beyond the Call of Duty” award presentation is a highlight of the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association’s General Membership Meeting. This prestigious award recognizes those whose actions performed are beyond their outlined job description. There are two award categories in the Beyond the Call of Duty awards — the “Life Saving Award” and the “Integrity Award.”On June 18, the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association recognized Nelida and Paulina as Integrity Award Honorees. Their honesty has given our guests a Guam experience they’ll long remember.

The OHANA Ocean view Guam nominated Nelida and Paulina for the “Beyond the Call of Duty Integrity Award” for their honesty and integrity and outstanding commitment to our values of Inafa’molek.

On March 18, while Nelida Dimatatac was cleaning an assigned room, she found an envelope filled with money. Nelida immediately reported it to the Housekeeping Manager. When the guest returned, Nelida greeted them and returned the envelope. The guests were ecstatic, as they had apparently thought the money was lost.

On March 27, during a room cleaning, Paulina Perkin immediately noticed three pillows with a $100 bill placed on each one. Paulina felt the $300 was an unusual amount for a tip and thought it may have been a mistake. She quickly reported her discovery to the Housekeeping Manager. The guests were contacted and expressed sincere appreciation for Paulina’s honesty.

Congratulations, Nelida and Paulina!
