David Carey Honored by Santa Clara University

Dr. Richard Kelley — Surrounded by family and friends, Outrigger President and CEO David Carey was honored at the Santa Clara University School of Law’s Celebration of Leadership and Achievement gala dinner, held May 1 in California. David was one of two recipients of an Alumni Special Achievement Award that evening.

Established in 2001 by the university’s Law Alumni Association, the Alumni Special Achievement Award was created to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves in their profession, community, and service to humanity.

Before the award was presented, a video was shown that included comments by three prominent Island residents. Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann spoke of David’s commitment to the community and his skill in business. Admiral Timothy J. Keating, USN, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, thanked David for his and the company’s support of the thousands of men and women in uniform. Dr. James Scott, President of Punahou School, talked about David’s dedication to public education.

All of us at Outrigger already know David as a business visionary, an advocate for tourism, and a tireless champion for education and the military. With this award, it is obvious that others also appreciate the great contributions David is making to his community. I know the entire Outrigger ‘ohana joins me in congratulating David on this great honor.
