On behalf of Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, we salute our 2009 First and Second Quarter Years of Service Honorees for their dedication and hard work. Celebrating these special milestones are:

35 Years of Service

Doreen Nohara

Doreen Nohara/Beachfront Revenue Management
Doreen’s first job was at the Cinerama Reef, working in PBX as a Runner. At that time, there were no computers, and Doreen remembers the old cord telephone switchboard. Doreen walked between the OHANA Edgewater, OHANA Waikiki Tower, OHANA Reef Towers, and Outrigger Reef on the Beach to pick-up cards with the names of guests who were checking in and checking out. This information was used to update the spindles used for guest information. After working in PBX for two years, Doreen worked at the Front Desk for seven years, moved to Reservations, then transferred to Group Reservations, and five years ago joined the Beachfront Revenue Management team.

The purchase of Cinerama Hotels by Outrigger and the relocation of Central Reservations to Denver are big changes that Doreen remembers.

Doreen continues to work at Outrigger because of the wonderful benefits and because of her coworkers, who are like a second family. She has been happily married for 30 years, has a son and daughter, and enjoys shopping on her days off. Doreen shared that she is still learning and enjoys the challenges she encounters daily. Her philosophy on life is to “treat everyone nicely.”

Florence Silipan – Housekeeping

Florence Silipan

Florence’s first job was as a Housekeeper, and she has worked at the Cinerama Reef Towers, OHANA Edgewater, OHANA Waikiki West, and the OHANA Waikiki Tower. Florence also worked directly for Roy and Estelle Kelley and has many wonderful memories of them. She likes working for Outrigger because it is an ‘ohana company and the benefits are very good.” Florence is a seasoned traveler and wants to see the world. Florence has already visited Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Thailand. She is looking forward to traveling to Russia, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, and the mainland. When Florence is not traveling, she enjoys window shopping. Florence’s advice to everyone is “to work hard and always do your very best.”

Erlinda Alonzo – Housekeeping

Erlinda Alonzo

Erlinda has worked as a Housekeeper, since joining Outrigger in 1974. She has developed many friendships with return guests, some who stay for one to two months. Erlinda feels that Outrigger is a good company because of the excellent benefits and the spirit of ‘ohana. When Erlinda is not working, she enjoys watching Filipino TV programs and going shopping at Pearlridge Shopping Center. She also enjoys visiting her favorite place —Las Vegas!  Erlinda has two sons and her philosophy for life is “be happy.”

30 Years of Service

Consolacion Gampong

Consolacion Gampong – Housekeeping
Consolacion’s first job with Outrigger was as a Housekeeper. She has worked at the OHANA Waikiki East, OHANA Surf, OHANA Waikiki West, and the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. When Consolacion first started, a bar of soap and shampoo were the only guest room amenities, compared to today, where we have many additional amenities. Consolacion enjoys working for Outrigger because it’s like a family, the benefits are good, the company is there when you need help, and she has a nice boss. On her days off, Consolacion enjoys shopping at Macy’s and Sears. When Consolacion retires, she plans to visit her sister and brother in the Philippines and spend more time with her two children and six grandchildren. Consolacion’s philosophy on life is, “to be happy, smile, have fun at work, and don’t worry too much because you will get more wrinkles.”

Paz Rosal

Paz Rosal – Housekeeping
Paz originally started with Outrigger in the Housekeeping department and has worked at the OHANA Waikiki West, OHANA Waikiki East, and the OHANA Surf Hotels. Paz is thankful to Outrigger for the great benefits, for treating everyone like family, always having a job, and being able to send her kids to college. Paz has been married for 37 years and has one son, four daughters and nine grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes are cooking adobo and lumpia and traveling to Las Vegas and the Philippines. Paz is looking forward to traveling back and forth between Hawaii and the Philippines when she retires. With a big smile, Paz shared, “Outrigger is the best and Ivy is the best - we love her.”
