It gives me great pleasure to announce that Nancy Daniels, APR, is the latest recipient of the Gregg W. Perry Public Relations Professional of the Year Award, the highest and most coveted award in Hawaii’s Public Relations arena. This award is presented to an exemplary practitioner who, during a distinguished career, has made a major contribution to the profession and has applied public relations techniques in a professional manner to achieve meaningful objectives.

Nancy Daniels started her Outrigger career as a Public Relations Coordinator in 1995, where she was later promoted to Public Relations Manager and most recently, to Public Relations Director in 2007. Prior to joining the company, she spent seven years at the former Kahala Hilton Hotel moving from Administrative Assistant to Public Relations Manager.

As Outrigger Enterprises Group’s Public Relations Director, Nancy holds one of the most critical and influential communications positions in the state. She has played a critical role in helping to tell the Outrigger story during a dramatic period of change and expansion for the company, and has helped successfully manage Outrigger’s image and brand through strategic media relations.

Aside from her daily job responsibilities, Nancy is also an active member of the community. She has served on the Hawaii Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Chapter Board in a variety of capacities, including President, served as an Officer of the Western Chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers, and Board Member of the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii.

Born and raised in the islands, Nancy is a graduate of Heald College and holds the Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America.

As a leader in the workplace, community, and Hawaii’s public relations industry, Nancy has rightfully earned the tremendous honor of receiving the Gregg W. Perry Award. Nancy will be presented the award at the Koa Anvil Awards ceremony on Thursday, July 16, 2009.
