The 24th Annual Law Enforcement & Security Appreciation Luncheon was held on October 30, with 400 Law Enforcement and Security Officers and supporters in attendance. Hawaii’s United States Attorney Edward H. Kubo Jr. gave the keynote speech. The theme for the luncheon was the ongoing and continually increasing collaboration between Law Enforcement Agencies and Private Security. Thirty officers from Federal, Military, County, and Private Industry received awards for being their respective agency’s “Top Cop.”
Outrigger’s Wackenhut Security Captain Jose Solorio, who oversees the day-time Security operations, was among the awardees this year. His dedication, loyalty, and ability to learn made him a stand-out. He has that “can do” attitude and considers no job too big or too small. CPR instruction, setting up new sites, creating new testing procedures, undercover work, supporting community events, and even filling in by delivering mail when Randall is on vacation—it doesn’t matter—Jose will do it!
The best part was that Jose had no idea he was receiving an award—he thought he was simply there to enjoy lunch—until he was called to the stage! The look on his face was priceless.
Congratulations, Jose.
