Outrigger on the Lagoon – Fiji Volleyball Teams are Tops!

The Inter-Hotel Volleyball Tournament was a success with the Outrigger on the Lagoon – Fiji’s Men’s and Mixed Teams defending their titles for the seventh year in a row!
Fourteen teams competed with the Fiji Island Tourism Hotel Association as the major sponsor.
The Outrigger Men’s and Mixed Teams were both up against Tambua Sands in the finals, and the Vomo Women’s Team and the Outrigger Women’s Teams battled it out at the finals, a replay of last year. Outrigger was edged out by just two points!

Aloha Chong Suk Im and Song Wen Liu

Two retirement ceremonies were held in December for long-time employees of Outrigger. On December 8, Outrigger Reef on the Beach ‘ohana gathered to bid aloha to Chong Suk Im, who retired after 27 years of dedicated service, and on December 27, OHANA Waikiki Malia ‘ohana gathered to bid aloha to Song Wen Liu, who retired after 23 years of dedicated service. Dr. Chuck Kelley, Ruthann Yamanaka, Chuck Shishido and Bill Comstock expressed their appreciation on behalf of Outrigger Hotels & Resorts for their hard work and contributions over the years, and gifts of aloha and recognition were presented. Our award-winning Bebe Spa Sanctuary adds yet another achievement to its list! The Outrigger on the Lagoon – Fiji spa was chosen Australian Spa Association’s Best Destination Spa for 2011 at the Australian Spa Association’s Excellence Awards recently.
Resort Manager Jason Zvatora and Executive Assistant Manager Russell Blaik hosted a congratulations Hawaiian-themed dinner for the Bebe Spa staff. Jason thanked all the ladies for their efforts and resulting awards earned this year.
