Thousands of spectators lined Waikīkī Beach to cheer on the athletes.

Outrigger Aids Our Friends in Japan
By Barry Wallace
The effects of the triple whammy of what Japan refers to as 3/11 (Earthquake, Tsunami, and Radiation) are still being assessed, but we know that many people in Japan will be in distress for some time to come.

David Carey, Jean Rolles, and Danny Ojiri on behalf of Outrigger, present a check to Ed Hawkins, President of the Japan-America Society of Hawaii
We, at Outrigger, want to help our friends in Japan during their time of need. To this end, we were honored to lend our support to a special benefit concert held at Waikiki Beach Walk® on the Sunday following the disaster, with 100 percent of the proceeds raised going to the Japan Hawai‘i Relief Fund, established by First Hawaiian Bank. All contributions to this fund will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to support the earthquake and tsunami victims and their families.
We also have made a corporate donation to the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH), a non-profit organization whose mission is to “promote understanding and friendships between the peoples of Japan and the United States through the special and unique perspective of Hawai‘i.” JASH will direct these funds to the Japanese Red Cross Society as well.
On the JASH Web site, they show their efforts to provide relief and suggest how others can contribute. Visit www.jashawaii.org, if you are interested in further information.

Kung Hee Fat Choy – Happy New Year!
By Ethan Chang & Denise Torres
Chinese New Year is celebrated around the world, including here in Hawai‘i. Its purpose is to honor Heaven and Earth, family ancestors and gods, and to bring good luck to the coming year. Today, we celebrate with loud fireworks and acrobatic lion dances to scare away evil spirits, and of course, with lots and lots of food. This year, we celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.

The Denver Reservations Worldwide Contact Center was excited to have our first Holiday Party. In years past, we have organized company picnics; however, we decided to change it up this year and have a special get-together for the holidays. With an attendance of about 80, many employees had the opportunity to meet their fellow ‘ohana members. We were also pleased to have Dr. Richard Kelley and Linda Kelley join us for the festive occasion.
