A Special Mahalo Luncheon for Wounded Warriors
By Kathy Hansberry
Honor…Bravery…Discipline, and Service, these are the words often associated with the hard-working members of our U.S. military. These unsung heroes serve our country, sacrifice their lives, and give their all to maintain our safety and security and protect our freedom.
An Honorable Visit
By OHHPAC
We were truly honored to hear from our Hawai‘i-born U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye recently. Driven by a desire to improve the lives of others, Senator Inouye has fought to preserve our civil liberties and equality of opportunity, and has been a staunch advocate on Hawai‘i’s behalf for eight terms.

We are guided by our values to do the right thing in the right way.
Kung Hee Fat Choy – Happy New Year!
By Ethan Chang & Denise Torres
Chinese New Year is celebrated around the world, including here in Hawai‘i. Its purpose is to honor Heaven and Earth, family ancestors and gods, and to bring good luck to the coming year. Today, we celebrate with loud fireworks and acrobatic lion dances to scare away evil spirits, and of course, with lots and lots of food. This year, we celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
Denver Reservations Celebrates the Holidays
By Kathy Sylvester
The Denver Reservations Worldwide Contact Center was excited to have our first Holiday Party. In years past, we have organized company picnics; however, we decided to change it up this year and have a special get-together for the holidays. With an attendance of about 80, many employees had the opportunity to meet their fellow ‘ohana members. We were also pleased to have Dr. Richard Kelley and Linda Kelley join us for the festive occasion.

Paddle 3 Lives On!
By Kaipo Ho
Our Maui ‘ohana celebrated Paddles 1 through 3 by collaborating on a unique lei-making project that involves all six Maui condominium teams. Starting at the Outrigger Napili Shores, each team will add a segment to the Maui Ke ‘Ano Wa‘a lei. The lei will travel from one end of the island to the other, growing in length, and diversity with each stop. The lei began at the Outrigger Napili Shores, and is now moving to The Kapalua Villas, then to the Outrigger Royal Kahana, the Outrigger Maui Eldorado, the Outrigger Aina Nalu, and finally the Outrigger Palms at Wailea. Our Maui ‘ohana successfully tackled a perplexing challenge of how to celebrate Ke ‘Ano Wa‘a with only a handful of employees at each property. Their lei should be completed by Thanksgiving.
Last week, we highlighted the Paddle 3 efforts of several other properties and Company Services, and thought the readers of Saturday Briefing would enjoy more pictures of the celebration.
- Maui’s traveling lei in the hands of Darice Garcia from Kapalua Villas
- Jason Sewell ~ the furry feline
- Boardwalk anyone? asks Danny Wang
- Ashley Cabradilla shows no fear of wizard Hong Nguyen and biker dude Reed Nakamura
- Yep, that them there’s a zombie says Barry Wallace of Danette Bolosan

Paddle Three: Celebrating What We Do
By Kaipo Ho
Paddle 3, Celebrating What We Do, recognizes our value of Nā Mea Ho‘okipa (Hosts) – We, as hosts, welcome and entertain guests and friends with warmth and generosity. Paddle 3 acknowledges that we are all hosts regardless of our place, purpose, or position within Outrigger, and celebrates the contributions each department and business unit makes to the larger Outrigger hospitality experience. From our Denver Reservations ‘ohana, who are often the first experience our guests have with Outrigger, to our Bellman at the front door and the GSR at the Front Desk, who are the first to welcome our guests into our hotels, to the Housekeepers and Maintenance teams who work diligently to keep our facilities spotless and in top working order, to our Outrigger ‘ohana behind the scenes who handle guests’ accounts and financial services, marketing and advertising, revenue management, IT systems, and human resources, we are all hosts caring for our guests, caring for one another, or both. A great thing about the Paddle Process is seeing how each property/department interprets and celebrates each paddle in their own unique way.
