Innovations and Revolutions in Education
BY DR. RICHARD KELLEY — Very recently, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar and presentation by Salman “Sal” Kahn, a 35-year old Bangladeshi-American who, almost singlehandedly, is turning the world of education upside down. By creating new concepts and technology that can be brought to classrooms almost anywhere in the world, he is causing everyone, including Outrigger Enterprises Group, to re-examine how we transmit and acquire the knowledge and skills that are so vital in today’s fast-moving global economy. A Giant Step Forward
BY DR. RICHARD KELLEY — Outrigger Enterprises Group is in the middle of a major technology system upgrade, which the Outrigger JDE Steering Committee describes in the accompanying article on this page. Jean Rolles – 30 Years and More!
BY DR. RICHARD KELLEY — This week, we are recognizing members of our ‘ohana who are celebrating special anniversaries of their time with Outrigger Enterprises Group. Yes, officially she has been on the payroll for 30 years, but the truth is she has been with the company for well over twice that long, starting from when she was 11 years old. Someone may well have violated some child labor laws, if they actually existed at the time. But, I’ll let Jean tell the story of her time and experiences with our company in her own words: Read the rest of this entry

Waikīkī Beach Improvements Benefit Everyone
BY DR. RICHARD KELLEY & DR. CHUCK KELLEY — What makes a great beach? Well, that depends on what you are looking for! Around the world there are many outstanding beaches. Some appeal more to niche travel markets, from beach glass combers to nude sunbathers. But when it comes to universal appeal to mainstream travelers, it is hard to beat Waikīkī, which is consistently rated at the top by those who evaluate such things. Read the rest of this entry
Celebrating 65 Years: More Roy Kelley Stories
BY DR. RICHARD KELLEY — Perhaps it is a coincidence or perhaps it is because we are celebrating the 65th anniversary of the founding of Outrigger Enterprises Group, but in the past week, I have been in contact with three different people, all of whom had personal stories about our co-founder Roy Kelley and our company’s operations many, many years ago. Rain Doesn’t Dampen Our Team’s Can-Do Spirit

Rubbing Petroglyphs at Outrigger Hotels
BY DR. RICHARD KELLEY — Hospitality can be a little hard to define, but like many other things in life, you know it when you experience it. At Outrigger and OHANA Hotels and Resorts, we work hard to provide guests a unique hospitality experience reflecting the distinctive culture of the areas in which our properties are located.
