Keiki from the Waimanalo Outreach Choir directed by Pam DeBoard entertained our guests with songs of the island and songs for the holidays on Tuesday, November 15. Pam is the Executive Director of HEARTS, Hawaii Education of the ARTS. HEARTS’ mission is to enhance the character and lives of young people through a challenging arts program and to enrich the community by providing high quality arts events. HEARTS believes that all children and youth deserve training in the arts regardless of financial status.
“We were all very pleased by their performance and surprised by the energetic harmony from only 14 keiki,” said General Manager Bill Comstock. “This was a perfect way to begin our Holiday Season.” Mahalo to the staff for coming out to watch the performance. Hau‘oli Lā Ho‘omaikai!

Yes, there were moments of excitement during APEC 2011: the President’s motorcade passing the hotel, streets closed with soldiers on the corners armed with some pretty impressive firepower, greeting the prime ministers and various cabinet-level dignitaries, but I must say the overwhelming memory I will take away is the pride I felt being a member of the Reef Team. Actually, we were joined by several hundred more people – like me, all admirers of Mildred, including two tables filled with colleagues from the Outrigger ‘ohana.
