Wyndham at Waikiki Beach Walk® Celebrates Paddle 2 in Conjunction with New Lobby Unveiling
BY SHANNON YADON — On Friday, April 13, the Wyndham at Waikiki Beach Walk Resort celebrated the opening of their newly renovated lobby. Tiffani ‘Napualei’ Saunders led a cultural ceremony and blessing including the ceremonial untying of Maile lei. The Hawaiian story of the Naupaka flower, which served as an inspirational muse in the design of the lobby, was shared with all those in attendance. Guests could see carvings of the flower on the new front desk and the actual plant housed in planters around the resort. This ‘ohana-style celebration invited resort employees and in-house guests to share in the ceremony and a social mixer, with sparkling cider and Naupaka-decorated cupcakes, that followed. The United States is this year’s host of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference held during the week of November 7-13, 2011. President Obama further selected his home state of Hawai‘i as the site of the conference and personally invited the APEC delegates to come to his home. In many cultures, a person’s name is important and can be reflected in someone’s personality, traits and even place in society. To Celebrate Where We Come From, we collected ancestry information from our employees. Read the rest of this entry
