Guam Grill Masters!

BY JANET SHMULL — The Guam Visitors Bureau put forth its best barbecue block party yet on July 5, 2014. The air was filled with the smells of good grillin’s and rhythmic island music.Scores of people flocked to Pleasure Island despite some untimely but cooling rain showers on a hot summer day.

A collaborative effort with the Micronesia Chefs Association, this second annual event took over the streets fronting the OGM.

The event brought in master grillers from Russia and South Korea to participate in a BBQ competition. Vendor booths, musicians and entertainment incited a party atmosphere while international media from Asia documented the excitement. Outrigger Guam Resort’s Chef JR Taga barbecued up his signature smoked Cuban pork ribs with Chipotle BBQ sauce and homemade chicken sausage wrapped in corn husk.

Team Outrigger Guam Resort came together again to help create a lively island experience for our visitors and an upscale fiesta for our locals, exemplifying Ayuda (Help)…We willingly assist with our time, ideas and resources in every way possible. Nothing omitted, nothing left to chance, we anticipate the needs of all to fulfill their expectations.
