By Nancy Daniels — The Outrigger Reef on the Beach’s tradition of sharing good food, good fun, and terrific entertainment with guests and residents was front and center on Friday, April 3, when the hotel held its first Aloha Friday Luncheon show of the year at the new Kani Ka Pila Grille.
Hosted by Hawaiian music radio station Hawaiian 105 KINE with emcee Billy V, the luncheon show was broadcast live over the radio, as well as via the Internet. Those in attendance were treated to a delicious Hawaiian buffet lunch, along with the musical stylings of four of Hawaii’s top entertainers and groups — Amy Hanaiali‘i Gilliom, Troy Fernandez, Brother Noland, and Kaukahi.
Planning and executing their first Aloha Friday Luncheon was an exciting challenge for the crew at Kani Ka Pila Grille. Because of the sell-out crowd, a special banquet set-up was required to make sure everyone who attended could see the performers on stage. The numbers also meant “family-style” seating with banquet tables of ten set up, but it wasn’t long before new friends were being made at each table. The Kani Ka Pila kitchen staff put out a tasty Hawaiian buffet line, and the wait staff did a tremendous job clearing plates and filling drink glasses quickly and efficiently.
Congratulations to the entire Kani Ka Pila and Outrigger Reef team who rose to the occasion to make this first Aloha Friday Luncheon show a real success!
