Outrigger Guam Beach Resort basketball team makes playoffs

BY CLARISSA SACLA — For the second year in a row, the Outrigger Guam Beach Resort’s basketball team made it to the playoffs in the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association’s (GHRA) basketball league.

This year’s league consisted of 36 teams competing in the recreational division. They came in fourth place after playing back-to-back games on June 22, winning against a very tough opponent in game one with only five players on the roster. Fatigue caught up with them in game two. In the spirit of the Inafa’maolek, value of “Onra” (Honor), the team consistently played with integrity and displayed great teamwork all throughout the regular season and into the playoffs. Their efforts are commendable because they continuously put in so much energy in each game, even after a full day at work.

Co-captains Clark Aquino (housekeeping) and Jason Aguon (food and beverage) did a wonderful job leading the team. Team members are: Adonis Ronquillo (food and beverage), Advent Escoto (front office), Andrew Velasquez (food and beverage), Boddy Ramirez (kitchen), Christian Josef (food and beverage), Noel Canete (food and beverage), Dante Vergara (housekeeping), Darwin Dabu (kitchen), Ireneo Vargas (kitchen), John Solberg (housekeeping), John Vargas (food and beverage), Kathlynn “Kace” Delfin (food and beverage), Marlon Meily (front office) , Michael Juco (IS), Michael Mafnas (food and beverage), Pitnes Enita (kitchen), Rey Sianoya (food and beverage) and William Davis (food and beverage).

The Outrigger Guam Beach Resort participates in the GHRA sporting events to help promote healthy activities and build camaraderie amongst our hosts.
