BY DONNA PARKIN — Maria Alaveras and Andrew Gee of the Australian regional sales team represented Outrigger Resorts at the Australian press briefing for the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championships on April 14.

The briefing for the world-renowned triathlon, involving a 1.5km ocean swim, 34km mountain bike ride and 10km trail run, took place in Sydney’s historic The Rocks precinct overlooking a sparkling Sydney Harbour.

The briefing was attended by the Hawai‘i-based XTERRA team, elite triathletes, executives from Destination NSW and senior government officials.

Outrigger Resorts is a major partner of the XTERRA group, a partnership that was acknowledged by the New South Wales minister for trade, tourism and major events Stuart Ayres and XTERRA World Tour president Janet Clark, who thanked Outrigger for its support.

The 2015 XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship triathlon takes place today, April 18, at Callala Beach, about three hours drive south of Sydney in the beautiful Jervis Bay area. Prize money on offer to the top athletes competing is $50,000.

Unfortunately, Andrew and Maria were too busy to take part but have promised to start training for next year’s event!
