Last week, the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation hosted a group of travel writers for two nights as part of a Kauai Visitors Bureau press trip. Themed “More Kauai For Less,” the goal of the trip was to position Kauai as a travel destination with great value—from accommodations, to activities, to eateries. Writers also enjoyed many of the island’s cultural activities, outdoor adventures, and aloha spirit.
The travel writer group represented a diverse collection of publications, including Tribune Newspapers, Stone magazine, JohnnyJet.com, Talent in Motion magazine, the Toronto Sun, Positive Magazine, Sharp magazine, b5 media’s Travel Channel, and Planeteye.com.
In addition to providing accommodations for the writers during their Kauai visit, the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation hosted a farewell breakfast the morning of their departure from the property. Showcasing the flexibility travelers have when staying at a condo, the breakfast took place in a beautiful condo unit overlooking the property’s koi lagoon. Breakfast was expertly prepared by Executive Housekeeper Donna King and Assistant Executive Housekeeper Sherry Oyamot. These ladies went above and beyond and thoroughly impressed the writers with their cooking skills! A professional catering service could not have done any better!
Mahalo to General Manager Dale Verkaaik and the entire Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation team for being the perfect hosts to this important group of writers. I’d also like to thank Gregg Enright, Regional Director for our Kauai condos, and Kauai resident Kim Rogers, who is editor of our outriggerhawaii.com website, for attending the breakfast and helping to represent Outrigger so well.
From their comments that morning, the writers really enjoyed their stay at Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation and experiencing all that Kauai has to offer during their week-long visit to the Garden Isle. As a result, we can look forward to some wonderful exposure for both the property and the island in the travel stories that will be published over the next several months.
