Outrigger/OHANA Employee Health Fair

By Lauren Chow

The Outrigger/OHANA Employee Health Fair was a great success this year! Approximately 450 employees in Waikiki attended the 2009 Annual Health Fair and received free health services, including flu shots, glucose/cholesterol screenings, massage therapy, grip strength analysis, and blood pressure screenings.

Those who attended learned valuable information about what a personal First Aid kit should contain. Kaiser provided a Wii game to demonstrate that increasing physical activity at can be fun. HMSA’s Online Care provided valuable information on how to navigate through their new online program.

Employees who visited at least six booths were eligible to enter a drawing for door prizes. Congratulations to all who received a prize.

For those employees on Oahu who weren’t able to attend the Health Fair this year but want to get their flu vaccine, please go to Doctors On Call. No appointment is needed, but you will need to bring your Outrigger ID. Employees on the neighbor islands and in Denver should contact their Human Resources representative to learn where they can receive their free flu vaccine.

A special mahalo to everyone who helped make this year’s event a great success: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Doctors On Call, HMSA, HMSA Healthpass and Health Education, HBHC, Kaiser Permanente, Kaiser Permanente’s Vision Specialist, Kapiolani Women’s Health Center, Vision Service Plan, Serenity Spa, and Nurhan Enustun.

Stay Healthy and see you next year!
