The presence of our Princess Ka‘iulani was surely felt by everyone that gathered at the Lei Draping Ceremony on Thursday, October 16.
The sound of the pū (conch shell), announced the beginning of the ceremony. Leading the procession with an oli (chant) were the Aha Hui Ka‘iulani, followed by Dr. Chuck Kelley, Alan White, Ruthann Yamanaka, and Chuck Shishido representing Outrigger. Members of the Outrigger ‘ohana presented lei to the statue Princess Ka‘iulani. During the ceremony, those who gathered sang “Lei No Ka‘iulani” and “Ainahau” to honor the princess. The event concluded with the state anthem “Hawai‘i Pono‘i.
