Pro Bowl MVP Larry Fitzgerald signs autographs and chats with children at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach
Arizona Cardinal wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald held a special autograph session last week at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. Children from families at the Next Step Shelter in Kakaako and H-5 (Hawaii Helping the Hungry Have Hope) were Larry’s special guests, along with hundreds of fans who showed up to meet and greet the football megastar.
Fitzgerald, arguably one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, arrived in the afternoon to a room full of eager children who had gathered to meet him. In an interview with KHNL-TV, Fitzgerald said, “I know a lot them (the kids) might not have the opportunity to come out to Pro Bowl practice and to the game, so I just want to make sure that they know we appreciate their hard work in school and the way they are, how good they are, and just want to give back a little bit.” Fitzgerald chatted one-on-one with the kids and signed autographs for them in a closed setting.
Afterward, eager fans and hotel guests got the opportunity to take photos and get autographs; some had lined up hours prior, just for the chance to see Fitzgerald. He graciously chatted with his fans and signed hundreds of autographs for all of his admirers.
In Sunday’s Pro Bowl, Fitzgerald led the NFC to a 30-21 win over the AFC and was crowned the MVP of the game. Fitzgerald caught five passes for 81 yards and scored two touchdowns.
A big mahalo goes out to Larry Fitzgerald for sharing his aloha and time with the children and fans. A special mahalo to Mona Wood and the volunteers and employees who made it all possible.
