The management team of Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas spent an intense but fun week with our training consultant Mike Stephens from Provolution Learning.

Back row: Khun Aey – Rooms Division Manager, Khun Suppachai – Chief Engineer, Mike Stephens – Provolution Learning, Khun Nok – Executive Housekeeper, Khun Baw – Activities Manager, and Khun Ple – Purchasing Manager Front row: Khun Tee – F&B Manager, Khun Paew – Human Resources Manager, and Khun Jib – Yim Siam Manager
The purpose of the week was to bond the team using a thinking technique based on producing solutions, rather than presenting problems, centered on the concept of “a free thinking zone,” where all ideas are good ideas. The program teaches the team that all input is good input and that all ideas need to be shared, because even if they are not implemented, they may trigger a thought from someone else that could lead to the ultimate solution.
Real issues were resolved, including the important final location of the Staff Canteen, an integral part of any happy team, especially in Thailand; as well as numerous challenges in regards to the back-of-house workflow in our newest resort.
The management team is busy preparing for the arrival of 100 new hosts on November 9 to ensure their introduction to Outrigger is a memorable one. The team is also working hard to set the stage for the December 1 opening of the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas—the newest addition to the Outrigger ‘ohana.
