Outrigger Video Saluting Hawaii’s Military Honored

International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Hawaii Chapter presented an Ilima Award of Excellence to Outrigger Enterprises, Inc. for the video “Everyday Heroes.” Outrigger’s public relations partner, Communications-Pacific, Inc., produced the video last October as part of the Hawaii Army Museum’s Ihe Award presentation to Dr. Richard Kelley and the Outrigger family.

The seven-minute video, which features Dr. Kelley, Jean Rolles, David Carey, Mildred Courtney and other members of the Outrigger ‘ohana, offers a nostalgic glimpse of the role the U.S. military has played in Hawaii’s history. It pays a fitting tribute to the military’s ongoing contribution to the local community, and tells the story of Outrigger’s efforts to support the men and women who defend our freedom.

“Everyday Heroes” has been shown to various Outrigger departments at properties in Hawaii and the Pacific, and the Hawaii State Department of Education also has used it in classrooms to teach students about the military’s role. The military sent copies to their commanders in Washington, D.C., and to Hawaii bases so that servicemen and women could see Outrigger’s appreciation and also take pride in their community work.

Chuck Kelley accepted the etched-glass Ilima award on behalf of Outrigger at a banquet on Thursday, April 5. Jean Rolles and Nancy Daniels also joined in the celebration.
