Fiji’s Tourism Week 2002 “Tourism is Everybody’s Business”

Fiji Tourism week 2002 was held from the 24th of October to the 2nd of November. This exciting week focused on three different areas:

• ,High powered forums, professional workshops and customer focussed seminars;
  
• ,Celebration of the tourism industry; and
  
• ,Competition of tourism workers in their skills and artmanship.

The management and staff of the Outrigger Reef Fiji attended workshops, forums, seminars, skills competitions and sporting events that were held during this two-week long event. Bartender of the Year competition, Bed Making Competition, Saloon Culinaire, Chef of the Year competition and Sports Competitions were some of the events.

Room Attendant Elina Kuricivi won the Two Bed sheeting category for the Bed Making Competition, Sous Chef Shailesh Naidu, won the Gold Medal in the Saloon Culinaire — Local Cuisine category and Sous Chef Nitya Nand, came in third in the Chef of the Year Competition The Mixed Volleyball team took second place in the major and plate competition, in the volleyball tournament.

The management of the Outrigger Reef Fiji would like to thank all the staff members for their efforts in preparing for, and participating in, the Tourism Week Events. The Outrigger Reef Fiji will continue to take part in all hospitality and tourism related events such as this in the future. Bula vinaku levu!
