Outrigger sponsors the first sellout game of the season for UH Men’s Basketball

BY KATHY HANSBERRY – High energy filled the Stan Sheriff Center on Nov. 18, as thousands of fans from both teams packed the arena for the University of Hawai‘i’s first sell-out home game of the season, men’s basketball. 

As game sponsor, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts was center stage for the much anticipated match between the ‘Bows and nationally ranked No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels. The game brought in an impressive number of spectators totaling 10,300 for a single game.
Outrigger’s friendly hosts greeted the first 1,200 fans through the turnstile with a free gift, and Outrigger’s chief marketing officer, Sean Dee, awarded a free 2-night stay at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, to the lucky winner of “Outrigger’s Basketball Musical Chairs,” the half-time on-court promotional game.

The ‘Bows gave the nationally ranked power team, Tar Heels, a good run before eventually falling back with a final score of 83-68. It was an exhilarating game, closer than anyone could have anticipated.
