BY DONNA PARKIN — The Fijian government’s health department praised the hygiene practices at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort saying they had set the benchmark for all other resorts.

Health department officials Elizarene Prakash and Shagufa Ali, who recently inspected all of the resort’s food and beverage outlets, said they were impressed by the cleanliness and condition of the restaurants and had awarded them an ‘A’ rating.

Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort General Manager Peter Hopgood said he was delighted with the ratings for his restaurants. “It’s a credit to our kitchen brigade, restaurant staff and our engineering team that they have been able to achieve and maintain such a high standard,” he said.

As part of a new government policy, food and beverage outlets at all resorts operating in Fiji will undergo regular hygiene checks by inspectors from the Ministry of Health.
