BY DARREN EDMONSTONE AND SEAN DEE — We are pleased to join Human Resources in welcoming Paul Cutler and Kristopher “Kris” Honeycutt to the Outrigger ‘ohana.
Paul joined us on November 3 as director of sales and marketing for Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji and Castaway Island, Fiji. He reports to Fiji general managers Peter Hopgood and Steven Andrews with functional responsibility to Mark Simmons, vice president sales and marketing, Asia Pacific, and will be based in Outrigger’s new Sydney office.
Most of Paul’s employment has been in Australia, but with a focus on Asia-Pacific hotels and resorts. His most recent position was as the Australia-based sales and marketing manager for Fiji’s Nanuku Resort and Spa. His prior experience includes sales manager – conference and corporate for Newport Mirage/Bayfield Hotels; sales and marketing manager for Plantation Island and Lomani Island Resort; director Australia/New Zealand for Continuity Marketing; regional sales manager, leisure, for Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts; sales manager Australia for Blue Lagoon Cruises and Tapa Holdings; national sales manager for Driveaway Holidays; and starting out with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Paul holds an advanced diploma in marketing from Northern Sydney Institute – TAFE Tourism Marketing; TAFE is Australia’s largest provider of vocational education and training.
A water enthusiast, Paul is a qualified Surf Lifesaver, including voluntary lifeguard services and competitive surfing at club level. Married with two young boys, Paul calls the northern beaches of Sydney his home.
Kristopher “Kris” Honeycutt joined Global Distribution as corporate director on November 3 as well. He reports to Dan Wacksman, senior vice president, global distribution.
In this new position, Kris oversees Outrigger’s globally managed digital marketing assets and efforts that include Outrigger.com, Jp.Outrigger.com, OutriggerAgent.com and corporate managed microsites, B2B (business-to-business) sites, social media platforms and overall content. Kris is responsible for digital asset strategy, development and implementation of technology, creative, content and analytics that will drive to key success measures that include site visits, conversion, revenue, engagement, social media reach, project completion, adherence to budgets and meeting/exceeding revenue targets.
Kris comes to Outrigger from MVNP where he was senior interactive director and responsible for managing the digital department, while driving multiple online marketing initiatives with a focus on online strategic planning and execution. Originally from Indiana, Kris was based in Japan for a decade, before moving to Hawai‘i in 2010. He has worked with companies in various industries, holding the positions of graphic designer, web designer, creative director, custom experience manager and as a manager of web strategy and planning. He has written commercial software documentation, as well as co-authored Web design-related books.
As a student, Kris studied graphic design and fine art photography, but like many in the creative profession, he used his university degree as a springboard to explore a much wider territory. Since falling in love with the Internet in the early 90s, Kris has continued to expand his knowledge as the Web has rapidly evolved.
Along with his professional talents, Kris brought a wife and two boys (9 and 12) when he relocated four years ago. In his free time, he instructs and trains in the Korean martial art of tae kwon do, enjoys kayaking and doesn’t go fishing nearly as often as he would like.
