Aloha to our New CFO Hans Weger

BY DAVID CAREY — It is my pleasure to join Human Resources in welcoming our new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Hans Weger to the Outrigger ‘ohana.

Hans Weger

Many of you have already met Hans, as he joined us this week and has been introduced around the Corporate Offices. Mahalo for extending your customary kōkua and aloha as Hans becomes familiar with our Outrigger ‘ohana and the Outrigger way.

As you may have read in Monday’s ‘OhanaGram, Hans brings to us an extensive background in raising capital, asset management and both corporate and hotel finance and accounting. He served as Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and Treasurer of LaSalle Hotel Properties, a publicly traded REIT focused on the acquisition, ownership, redevelopment and leasing of primarily upscale and luxury full-service hotels, from August 1998 to January 2011. In addition to CFO, Hans served as Principal Accounting Officer throughout his employment at LaSalle. Before joining LaSalle Hotel Properties, Hans served as Vice President and Treasurer for La Quinta Inns, Inc., where he was responsible for all financing activities. From 1992 to 1997, he served in various management roles with Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., and was responsible for strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and project financing. Since April 2011, Hans has been an Independent Director at STAG Industrial, Inc., a self-administered and self-managed full-service real estate company focused on the acquisition, ownership and management of single tenant industrial properties throughout the United States. He also served on the Advisory Council for the University of Southern Mississippi Business School, his alma mater.

Hans holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Banking & Finance from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Hans and his wife Sabrina have been married 19 years. They are excited to have made the move from Bethesda, Maryland, to the island and now making Hawai‘i their home. They have two sons, Gunnar who will be a senior and Leif who will be a sophomore at Mid Pacific Institute this coming fall semester. A sports enthusiast, Hans enjoys playing golf, white-water rafting and biking. He also enjoys watching sports and has been a tried and true Steelers, Celtics and Reds fan since the 70s! He says his biggest enjoyment is spending time with his sons and going on wonderful family vacations around the world. Hans did his own home renovation and enjoys doing handiwork around the house and building things. He also says he’s pretty good at the grill and makes a mean burger!

Hans shared, “I am honored the Kelley family has allowed me the opportunity to help them continue to grow the Company and look forward to being a part of the next stages of the organization’s development. A few things I am looking forward to here in Hawai‘i are not having to shovel snow during the winter, walking or riding my bike to work and watching the boys learn how to surf.”

Welcome to the Outrigger ‘ohana, Hans!
