Flavors of the Reef: Caring for each other, sharing with our guests

BY LUANA MAITLAND — The most exciting event that takes place at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort is our “Flavors of the Reef,” an event our hosts look forward to each year, where we share our culture with each other and our guests.

The morning saw executive, sales and accounting hosts assisting guests in Chinese dragon mask coloring, Japanese origami and lei making, followed by ethnic food sampling and our annual host talent show. The fun finale was “the canoe race.” Congratulations to the housekeeping department who won the overall award for most votes, most spirited team and best use of natural and recycled materials.

Mahalo to the Reef’s Alakai team: Paddle Two Luna Bruce Tauanuu, Jo-Ann Yonamine, Sheryl Tsugawa, Leigh Bulseco and Gina Reeves for their commitment in supporting and sharing “The Outrigger Way” with our hosts.
