BY LUANA MAITLAND — Hawaiian Christmas began at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort Dec. 1 with a Hula Performance by “Ka Hale I O Kahala” and the lighting of the Christmas trees. Mahalo to Pearl Harbor Survivor, Mr. Ed Hamilton, for lighting our tree this year.
The Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort and guests welcomed Santa when he arrived Saturday, Dec. 10. Hawaiian performances by musicians Rodney Bejer and Eric Lee and Puka‘ikapuaokalani Hula Halau took place on the beach fronting the resort for all to enjoy.
Excited keiki (children) waited on shore for their turn to greet Santa as he rode the waves onshore by canoe. Picture taking with Santa was a big hit as guests and kamaaina (locals) posed for their holiday family photo.
Santa made his way to the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort to have breakfast with keiki Saturday, Dec. 17, at Kani Ka Pila Grille. A delicious buffet of fresh fruit, French toast sticks with whipped cream, strawberries, sprinkles and chocolate chips and scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and Portuguese sausage was enjoyed. Keiki also had fun balloon twisting, with body art and taking pictures with Santa.
During the week of Christmas, more fun activities were on tap for our beachfront resort guests like Hawaiian Christmas card and ornament making, gingerbread village and cookie decorations and a host Christmas stocking contest.
Mahalo to all for making Christmas in Hawaii a joyous one: Santa and Mrs. Claus, CJ Sword, Cherwin Meheula-Solomon, Uncle Wally, Dianne Vicheinrut, June Meheula, Kani Ka Pila Grille managers and hosts, OWK and ORF maintenance and housekeeping hosts, Boyana with Natures Touch Photography, Adventure Balloons, Barbara Campbell and our general managers Clyde Min and Robert McConnell.
