BY DARREN EDMONSTONE AND BARRY WALLACE — We are pleased to join Human Resources in making several host announcements:
- Bronwyn Marshall is promoted to regional financial controller Asia Pacific;
- Jason Zvatora is promoted to director of revenue and distribution Asia Pacific;
- Haydee Cruz is welcomed to Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort as director of sales and marketing;
- and Edwin Torres is welcomed to Outrigger Guam Beach Resort as director of food and beverage.
Bronwyn is based in Australia and reports to Phuket-based Barton Jackson, director of finance and analysis, Asia Pacific. She will assist in overseeing the management of the financial reporting of the OEG-APAC properties and corporate entities; work on projects associated with APAC development; and serve as an integral member of the APAC team for financial system implementation and management.
Her career began with an audit position with the New Zealand Inland Revenue Department where she worked for 15 years, progressing to senior audit. During this time she earned her Bachelor of Business in accounting and qualified as a chartered accountant. To widen her circle of contacts, and while maintaining her audit role, she took on a casual hospitality position in the preopening of an Australian-owned hotel, where she met her hotelier husband, Bob, and gained a wide range of operational hotel experience. In 1994 she and Bob moved to Brisbane, where she held a senior role in the audit of superannuation funds for the Queensland State Treasury office. In 1998, Bob’s job took them to Bali and India and upon return to the Gold Coast, Bronwyn stepped into a financial controller role with Strand Resorts, followed by the Grand Chancellor Hotel Group. She moved to Outrigger in late 2005 as financial controller Australia and to the Mantra Group for a short period after the Outrigger sale in late 2006 until her return to Outrigger as regional financial controller.
Bronwyn is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Charted Accountants. She and Bob have a son Talor (17) who is completing his last year of high school and about to embark on a film and television degree at the university. Bronwyn is passionate about surf lifesaving and is a member of the Australian National Champion Inflatable Rescue Boat Team competing through the Australian winter months. She also likes to keep fit and makes an effort to walk 3 miles every day. She is happiest in the garden at their Gold Coast hinterland home with a New Zealand sauvignon blanc in hand. With a “glass half-full” attitude, Bronwyn never, ever gives up and always looks on the bright side of things.
