BY SEAN DEE AND DARREN EDMONSTONE — We are pleased to join human resources in congratulating Anita Travis on her appointment to corporate director at our global contact center (GCC) in Denver, Colorado, and welcoming Eugene Oelofse to the Outrigger ‘ohana as director of marketing and e-commerce, Asia Pacific.
Anita will continue to report to Dan Wacksman, senior vice president, global distribution, in her new role that took effect June 1.
Anita joined Outrigger in 2013 as director of our call center operations. She came from Jones International University in Colorado where she was national director of admissions, responsible for all aspects of new student recruiting. Her contact center management and training experience came from 14 years with Orbitz Worldwide (and its predecessor companies) where she managed a 200+ seat call center and supported global contact center training and processes for over 1,100 employees in multiple locations across the globe.
A key operational and strategic resource in our customer service and distribution organization, Anita ensures customers a smooth and outstanding booking and customer service experience. With more than 40 home-based hosts, primarily in the Denver area, she oversees our virtual global contact center and its functions that include retail, wholesale, GDS, e-learning, HR, training, IT and administration.
Anita enjoys reading, traveling and discovering new restaurants. An avid sports enthusiast, she watches college football and Major League Baseball (MLB). This summer she will travel to Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, which will be her 21st stadium visit on her quest to see a game in each of the 30 MLB stadiums. During her free time, Anita most delights in spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate and supportive of Ronald McDonald House charities whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of children.
Anita’s broad base of experience in contact center management and in our industry helps us to continually improve our operations and better support our growing global operations and customer base.
Eugene is based in our Outrigger Asia-Pacific office in Phuket and reports to Mark Simmons, vice president sales and marketing, Asia Pacific, as of June 1.
He comes from South Africa with 13 years of experience in branding, communications, digital, marketing and customer relationship management (CRM). Of those 13 years, eight were in hospitality and development, much of it in Asia, and five in advertising and communications.
Before joining Outrigger, Eugene was branding and communications director at AKARYN Hotel Group in Thailand (the previous owner of Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort), from 2014. For two years prior, he was group marketing manager at the Premier Hotel & Resorts Group, a mixed portfolio of three-, four- and five-star business and luxury hotels in South Africa. Eugene was also a creative director at advertising and communications agencies in South Africa focusing on lifestyle, golf and property.
A self-starter with a strong commitment to implementing cost-effective solutions, Eugene has a proven track record of generating excellent returns and impactful creative campaigns.
He holds honours and postgraduate certification in marketing management from the IMM Graduate School of Business in South Africa and also studied strategic brand management, graphic design, accounting and economics.
His employment career kicked off in 1995 when, at the age of nine, Eugene was a ball boy at the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Sports are a recurring passion; he enjoys triathlons, surfing and tennis. He also appreciates cooking and fine dining.
Please join us in congratulating Anita and Eugene.
