BY PAUL RICHARDSON — I join human resources announcing two appointments: Craig Wienckowski to corporate director, revenue and pricing, asset management – Hawai‘i and Teerathep ‘Tor’ Tishabhiromya to executive chef at the Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort in Thailand.
As of Nov. 1 Craig reports to me and is responsible for balancing the financial objectives of different lodging products to maximize total revenues and profit associated with guest rooms for Outrigger properties in Hawai‘i. He also provides support for owned properties in Hawai‘i, works with development personnel by providing financial and administrative guidance; represents Outrigger with key owners; and establishes effective processes, procedures and relationships in support of Outrigger business ventures in the State of Hawai‘i. In addition and to further solidify the important discipline of asset management, Craig’s primary focus is owners’ representative for our Hawai‘i-owned properties.
Craig joined Outrigger in 2013 as corporate director, finance, and prior to Outrigger was a director at Ishin Hotels Group, a hotel investment, asset and management company in Tokyo; manager/associate for the Portfolio Management and Operations departments of Goldman Sachs in Tokyo; and a contract employee for Archon Group Korea, a commercial real estate investment management and mortgage loan company.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts double major in German Literature/Language and Political Science/International Relations from University at Albany, State University of New York, and a Bachelor of Arts from Wuerzburg, Germany, in their Study Abroad program.
Board president of the Manoa Aquatics Swim Club, Craig also enjoys playing guitar and reading and keeping healthy by playing sports, hiking and maximizing his gym membership!
As the new executive chef at the Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort, Teerathep ‘Tor’ Tishabhiromya started work last week and reports General Manager Marc Landgraf.
Tor has a long and loyal record with Outrigger. Before joining the team in Koh Samui, he was executive chef at the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas in Phuket for over two years and prior to that, was sous chef at the Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort and Spa in Krabi province near Phuket from 2012-14. Before joining Outrigger, Tor was sous chef (de cuisine) at Chilli Padi Asian modern restaurant and at Tom Yum Thai Cuisine, both in Melbourne.
Tor knows how to work well in southern Thailand resorts and is a perfect fit for Koh Samui where he will help take the reputation of the resort’s dining operations to new heights to match the recently added extensive and stylish refurbishments.
“My passion for gastronomy is to create delicious and beautiful food on a plate,” he says. “Thinking out of the box is my way to work with food. I take real pleasure and appreciate it when I see guests enjoying my food, or taking pictures of it and posting on social media. It makes me happy.”
Tor loves soccer and playing guitar; is a big fan of Japanese culture, discipline, food and travel; and would like to visit Egypt to ride a camel and see the Northern Lights in Iceland. The big thing lighting up his life right now is his two-month-old daughter, Thyme.
Tor is also inspired by the life work of King Bhumibol of Thailand, whose example inspires him “to live our life in peace – and don’t take more if you’re full.”
Please join me in congratulating Craig and Khun Tor and wishing them the best.
