As corporate director, pricing, revenue systems and distribution as of Dec. 19, KAREN CODILLA provides leadership, vision and direction in the development, execution and distribution of global pricing and revenue strategies, initiatives, tactics and procedures to support the company’s goals and increase RevPar. In addition, Karen provides management oversight, leadership and strategic and tactical direction to support, develop, mentor and motivate the global revenue teams.

Karen comes to Outrigger from THE MODERN HONOLULU, where she was the director of revenue & distribution and a member of the executive team leading their revenue optimization and distribution strategy. She brings a unique perspective to distribution and pricing having driven revenue management, sales, online marketing and distribution from both the supplier and product side of the Hawai‘i market. Prior, Karen was senior market manager at Travelocity, responsible for Hawai‘i hotel and activity supplier sales, account management, pricing, distribution and online marketing strategy. Karen has also been an instructor for distribution courses for the Executive Development Institute for Tourism (EDIT) program at the University of Hawaii and has held several positions in revenue optimization and e-commerce in the travel industry.With an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, Karen is also a Certified Revenue Management Executive.

Enjoying beautiful beaches with family and friends, traveling and experimenting in the kitchen to recreate the tasty dishes she’s tried in her travels are favorite pastimes. Karen says her most successful attempt at duplicating a dish was homemade blue cheese ice cream she first tasted at San Francisco’s Coqueta.

Karen’s bucket list holiday is visiting Italy with husband Clarke, enjoying art, wine and amazing cuisine and disconnected from technology!

CZARINA LAM’S expanded role as director of revenue management has her continuing to report to Niel Mason, area general manager, with the added responsibility of the Holiday Inn Resort® Waikiki Beachcomber in addition to the OHANA Waikiki East by Outrigger® and OHANA Waikiki Malia by Outrigger®. Czarina oversees all sources of room revenue reservations and revenue operations ensuring efficient, user-friendly systems and processes while working closely with the sales and marketing team to improve market share, revenue growth and short- and long-term strategic initiatives.

She joined the Ala Moana Hotel in 2011 as revenue and reservations manager, and was promoted to director of revenue management in 2012. In 2014, she joined Outrigger to assume a multi-property role as the director of revenue management for the OHANA Hotels. Prior, Czarina was front office manager at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower; front desk manager/manager on duty at the Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel; and front office relief supervisor at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa.

With a bachelor’s in Travel Industry Management and also marketing with a minor in economics from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Czarina is also a Certified Revenue Management Executive.

Fluent in Chinese and English, Czarina says she immerses herself in the “international school of cultural diversity” through travel. To-date, her travel passion has taken her to 22 percent of the world (per TripAdvisor’s travel map) and close to 40 countries.

As of Dec. 29, MITCH YOKOYAMA reports to Robert Ishihara, HGH general manager.

As assistant general manager, Mitch assists Robert in ensuring resort operations are managed in a cost effective and professional manner to the satisfaction of guests, hosts and owners, while meeting Hilton brand standards.

Most recently housekeeping manager at Hilton Grand Vacations at Hilton Hawaiian Village for over 5 years, Mitch is well versed in Hilton brand standards. He was also quality assurance coordinator for the front- and heart-of-the-house and resort and guest service manager while there. Fluent in Japanese, Mitch started out with Hilton as a guest service agent (linguist) in their vacation-ownership area. Prior to Hilton and early in his career, he was a passenger service agent for Japan Airlines Passenger Service of America based in Los Angeles.

Mitch holds a bachelor’s in psychology from Santa Monica College in California. He was born in Japan and raised in Los Angeles by his mother, a hotelier who worked for various hotels throughout her career.

A favorite pastime is surfing that Mitch first learned at 26-years-old. He said it helped him understand the culture and truly love Hawai‘i. Mitch says he has a 2-year-old “princess” who is going through her “terrible twos!”

JIM UTSUGI reports to Tom Wakita, vice president of sales and marketing, as of Dec. 21.

As senior sales manager groups and sports sales, Jim develops sales strategies and plans to enhance the group market to include sports, events, University of Hawai‘i sports, Outrigger-sponsored events and meeting and leisure groups. In addition, his focus is on new business and markets for groups.

Jim is a sales veteran with many contacts in the corporate and sports arena. Most recently he was the coach for the men’s and women’s golf teams at Hawai‘i Pacific University and has also coached at Hawaii Baptist Academy. As you might imagine, Jim worked closely and often with travel agencies when making the teams’ travel arrangements. Jim also held sales leadership roles at Diamond Bakery Company, Ltd., Coca-Cola Bottling Co of Hawaii, Kaiser Permanente and Queen’s Health Plans.

Jim holds a business administration bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a master’s degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu.

A sports enthusiast, Jim attends University of Hawaii, high school and PacWest sporting events. He and his wife Susan have two daughters, Noel (23) and Sara (19). Both daughters played volleyball and basketball in high school and Sara plays volleyball at Chapman University in Orange, California.

Aside from attending sports, Jim stays active on the golf course and enjoys travel.

NARUPON SAEOUT reports to General Manager Marc Landgraf as of Dec. 19.

From Phuket in southern Thailand, Narupon joins Outrigger after serving as assistant chief engineer at the Angsana Laguna Phuket Resort where he was responsible for managing all engineering systems, supervising the engineering team and conducting training for his staff.

He has also served as assistant chief engineer at the Novotel Phuket Kamala Resort and Spa and chief engineer at the Andaman Beach Suites Hotel and performed important support roles as duty engineer, villas maintenance supervisor, room supervisor and duty engineer shift leader in assorted international class resorts and hotels in Phuket. Naruporn began his career as a handy man at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, 2002-2006.

He loves to drive along the scenic back roads of southern Thailand and also enjoys soccer, comedy movies and is inspired by the life and works of the late King Bhumibol of Thailand.
