I join Human Resources in congratulating Jim Heather on his appointment to General Manager of The Wyland Waikiki (WYL) and to Kimberly Agas who will assume the role of General Manager of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach (OWK), while continuing as Vice President-Operations of our Beachfront Resorts, effective early March.
The Wyland Waikiki’s General Manager vacancy presented us a strategic opportunity to fill that need from within our `ohana, and Jim is a perfect fit. He has been very successful at the helm of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach since 2004 and prior to that was General Manager at the Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona. Jim began his career with Outrigger in 1998, as Director of Rooms for the Outrigger Guam Resort, where he played a key role in the pre-opening and opening of the property. Jim’s career in the hospitality industry also includes management positions with Hilton Hotels in Guam and Holiday Inn in Tokyo, Japan.
I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge Barrett Winning, Assistant General Manager at The Wyland Waikiki, who has done a tremendous job overseeing the operations of the hotel during our search for a new General Manager. Barrett and the entire WYL ‘ohana are looking forward to welcoming Jim and bracing for his humorous antics!
OWK is looking forward to welcoming back a familiar face in Kimberly, who was named General Manager of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach back in 2001. She had been the Assistant General Manager for eight years and was Acting General Manager in 1999. Prior to that, Kimberly was the Hotel Manager for the Outrigger Village and Outrigger Coral Seas Hotels and prior to that, Assistant Manager of the Outrigger Village, Outrigger Reef Lanais, and Outrigger Coral Seas. OWK is looking forward to Kimberly’s return, as she continues to steer our flagship property and champion the Beachfront Resorts as VP.
Both very seasoned hospitality industry veterans and long-time valued members of our `ohana, Kimberly and Jim will, without a doubt, bring continued success to our properties. Please join me in wishing them well.
