BY DONNA PARKIN — Shivanjani Lata of Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji’s Bebe Spa has been named 2014 Spa Therapist of the Year at the Australasian Spa Association’s (ASpa) annual conference in Melbourne.
Shivanjani, who was born in Lautoka but now lives in Olosara Sigatoka, has been working at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji for almost four years. Her husband, Ritesh Kumar, is a chef at the resort.
The Spa Therapist of the Year award recognises the therapist who best delivers spa treatments, has the utmost regard for the health and safety of clients and other staff, maintains a professional, courteous and supportive work ethic, supports the spa industry through volunteering, training or promotion and has a strong customer focus as demonstrated by client testimonials.
Shivanjani said it had been a privilege to compete against other international therapists and that she is proud to have her efforts acknowledged by the Australasian Spa Association. “I would like to thank the Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji management for having faith in me and allowing me to travel to Australia, the spa manager for nominating me and the Bebe Spa team for their support,’’ she said.
Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji General Manager Peter Hopgood said that Shivanjani is an exceptional team member and the award is a reflection of the excellence for which the spa is renowned. “In 2013, ASpa named Bebe Spa Best International Spa and this latest win confirms this.”
Bebe Spa’s Praveena Dewan was second runner-up for the title of Best Spa Manager.
The awards were announced at a gala dinner at The Langham Hotel in Melbourne on October 26.
