Please join me and the Human Resources department in congratulating Sun Bee on her new position with the Interactive Commerce department. With the start of the New Year, Sun has stepped into a new role as Director, Online Distribution and Marketing and is now responsible for managing and optimizing Outrigger’s online marketing across media platforms and for improving company performance and return on investment through all online channels.

With the ever expanding importance of online channels as a means of driving business, it was important that we have a dedicated staff member to oversee this effort and to ensure the greatest return on our investment. In addition to the “Big 3” of online channels (Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz), Sun will be working directly with other online players, including metasearch sites, websites in source markets outside of North America, such as Australia, Korea, and Japan, as well as other online travel sites, including TripAdvisor, Travelzoo, Frommer’s and more.

Sun has a strong background in both the e-commerce world and in the Outrigger world, both of which will serve her well in this new role. Most recently, Sun served as Director of Sales & Marketing for Waikiki’s first all-suite resort, the Outrigger-managed Embassy Suites®-Waikiki Beach Walk®. There she oversaw the integrated sales, marketing, public relations and promotions strategies for the resort and was instrumental in the successful opening of this $93 million property.

Before joining Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk, Sun was Regional Market Director-Hawaii, Asia, and Pacific for Orbitz.com, a leading online travel company that enables travelers to search for and purchase a broad array of travel products over the worldwide web, including airline tickets, lodging, rental cars, cruises, and vacation packages.

Prior to Orbitz, Sun spent seven years in hotel operations with Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, the last three as Product Manager for the then newly-introduced OHANA Hotels & Resorts brand, where she was responsible for maintaining and incorporating brand standards throughout the company’s various distribution channels.
