It gives me great pleasure to join the Human Resources department in announcing that Grant James has accepted the new position of Regional General Manager with Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Australia. Grant will begin his new responsibilities on April 1, 2009.

Hastings Street Resort & Spa, Noosa, currently under construction in Queensland. Grant will also take on the responsibility for oversight of the Outrigger Twin Towns Resort in Tweed Heads, NSW, as well as the Company’s corporate office in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, in addition to leading Outrigger’s development effort in Australia.

Grant will initially be located at the company’s Australia corporate headquarters in Surfers Paradise and then move to Noosa later in the year to support the opening and management of the new hotel.

Grant joined Outrigger in December 2002 as the General Manager, Outrigger Marshall Islands Resort. He has also held positions in Australia as general manager, Outrigger Sun City and Director of Operations, Australia. In February 2007, Grant was named General Manager of the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, which is operated by an affiliate of Outrigger Enterprises Group.

Grant holds a diploma in hospitality management from the William Angliss College of Catering and Food Service and a diploma in business administration. Also of significance was his nomination for the Colin Powell U.S. Secretary of State Award for Corporate Excellence.
An Australian citizen, Grant will be returning home with his partner, Maggie, and her two sons, Willie and Gallie. Grant also has two grown children, both in Australia, Brent (also in the industry) and Monique.

Grant will bring both a wealth of hospitality management experience and a great deal of enthusiasm to his new position. He is a collaborative leader with an excellent track record of achieving results, while being an active and effective champion of Outrigger’s management values.
