By Ruthann Yamanaka I am pleased to welcome Janice Yee to the Outrigger ‘ohana as Corporate Director - HR Services in the Human Resources department in Honolulu.
Janice’s first day was August 4, and she hit the ground running. She has already visited two Neighbor Islands with LiLi Hallett and is scheduled to visit a third next week. Over the next couple of months, she will continue to meet employees throughout the company.
In this newly-created position of Corporate Director - HR Services, Janice will be responsible for the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC) and the function of Employee Relations. This will include overseeing the compensation and benefits, payroll, recruiting functions, as well as workforce development, transition management, employee relations, and Human Resource process improvement and compliance.
Janice joins Outrigger with a strong background in both Human Resources and hospitality. Janice started her career in hospitality in Bell Services at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. She soon joined the Hyatt’s management training program and has held the positions of Employee Relations Manager and Assistant Director - Human Resources. She was subsequently tapped to assist in the opening of the Hyatt Regency in Waikoloa in the same capacity. Janice was next promoted to be Director of Human Resources for the Hyatt Regency Kauai, where she was a lead executive in the opening of the new 600-room luxury resort. After 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Janice relocated to Oahu for family reasons and served as Vice President and Director of Human Resources at City Bank, International Savings & Loan, CB Bancshares, Inc. Most recently, she served as Vice President and Director of Human Resources for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a position she held since 1997.
Born and raised in Ewa, she earned a bachelor’s degree in the School of Travel Industry Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is a graduate of Campbell High School. Janice was recently married to Gareth Yee, and they live in the Kakaako area. Janice enjoys traveling, going to the movies, and spending time with her husband and friends.
Please join me in welcoming Janice to the Outrigger ‘ohana. Her wealth of experience in both hospitality and Human Resources are excellent, and we look forward to many outstanding contributions by Janice!
