The Outrigger Waipouli Beach and Outrigger at Lae nani Resorts celebrated a successful first half of the year at a Mahalo Party full of good food and good fun. The management team did all the cooking, making homemade specialties that were great hits…Helene Kahaunaele-Akiona’s short ribs, George Thronas’ sushi rice, Jill Pembrook’s tenderloin chicken breasts…all grilled with loving care by Robert Racelo and Vicki Valenciano.
Silly games brought out the competitive spirit, with employees wearing swim fins and flipping flour tortillas onto their heads or fanning raw eggs to make them roll across the finish line first. The event highlight was our first employee karaoke contest. To get things moving along, GM Gregg Enright surprised and delighted employees with his rendition of “New York, New York”. Not allowing him to put them to shame, the rest of the management team took their turn at the mic. It was the consensus of the employees that the management team should definitely hang on to their day jobs…not one “American Idol” prospect in the bunch! Two employees stood out—Ed Desamparado was runner-up after a soulful performance, and Kathy Silva took top honors!
After finishing up the celebration with door prize drawings, in typical Outrigger ‘Ohana-style, employees and managers teamed up to break down, cleanup, and begin plans for next year!
